Salzburgization transforms the Makartsteg into a many-sided, larger-than-life postcard waiting to be photographed and sent out into the world.
The Makartsteg is a pedestrian bridge in the centre of Salzburg, and an infrastructural junction. It connects two different territories: the Old Town, considered to be a cradle of high culture, and the New Town, which bustles with urban flair. The artist collective ONORTHODOX address this difference and adapt it for a series of large-format posters.
The project Salzburgization, positioned at the interface of art and science, presents succinct, subjective statements about Salzburg as an urban residential and living space and as a popular touristic hotspot.
ONORTHODOX not only interviewed people who live and work in Salzburg but also activated an international network of experts on urbanity, asking them to express their views of the city in brief comments. The twenty quotes (of a total of more than one hundred contributions) selected for display reflect different perspectives and perceptions of Salzburg.
Salzburgization transforms the Makartsteg into a many-sided, larger-than-life postcard waiting to be photographed and sent out into the world.
Salzburgization is a project by ONORTHODOX | Tackling Urban Issues (Margot Deerenberg and Thomas Stini) presented by Sommerszene Salzburg. For further information and the complete festival program go to: szene-salzburg.net
